Swami Vivekananda (1863-1902) was a Hindu spiritual teacher and a disciple of Sri Ramakrishna. He traveled throughout India as a wandering monk. Swami Vivekananda represented Hinduism at Chicago's Parliament of Religions in 1893 and became a celebrity in America. He spread Vedanta philosophy and religion in America and England for three years then returned to India.He wrote nine volumes during his life. |
